About the role

The available role is for a Senior Electrical Engineer in the Personal Care research team, an upstream group investigating a wide selection of technologies to identify opportunities within the Personal Care category. The Dyson Supersonic™, Airwrap™, and Corrale™ all started their technical journey within the Personal Care Research team.

You will form a crucial part of the team assisting them in the design and implementation of electrical systems that support a range of technology investigations. This includes the design and development of new prototypes as well as bespoke test equipment.

The position requires someone with a high degree of experience in designing custom electronics and electrical rigs, working with both high and low voltage, mains and battery powered systems. You should also be very experienced with the relevant Health & Safety and best practice guidelines that cover such systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and develop electronic circuits to enable the investigation of a variety of technologies, from breadboard to semi-integrated resolutions.

  • Design and develop electrical systems to support complex test equipment/rigs.

  • Work with the team to integrate electronics solutions at system and prototype levels.

  • Work with wider team to provide continuous support to existing prototypes and test rigs.

  • Test and verify electronics solutions.

  • Champion established Dyson methodology and good engineering practices to deliver robust and high-quality design solutions.

  • Ensuring that you and your team meet the industry standards and adhere to Dyson processes.

About you

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (e.g. electrical engineering).

  • Experience in developing and implementing electrical solutions, ideally in a product R&D setting.

  • Experience with standard electronics laboratory and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, AC/DC power sources, power meters, etc.

  • Demonstrable experience designing, integrating, and maintaining electrical systems (e.g. a self-contained product test rig).

  • Working knowledge and experience of high-voltage high-frequency electronics would be very desirable.

  • Knowledge of relevant industrial safety requirements and regulatory certification.

  • Highly motivated and self-driven with good communication skills.

  • Capable of managing their time and priorities with minimal oversight.
