The Floorcare Electronics System Integration team, based in Malmesbury, England, is responsible for developing and integrating cutting-edge electronic hardware for new and pioneering Dyson Floorcare products. We solve the problems others choose to ignore, developing disruptive technologies that require increasingly complex electronics solutions to deliver Dyson’s rapidly expanding global product portfolio.
About the role
The role will require a highly motivated, creative, methodical and flexible person, ready to take on challenges with a pragmatic approach. You will work in multi-disciplinary global project teams to architect and develop integrated electronic solutions for new and pioneering consumer appliance products within Dyson’s Floorcare category. You will gain invaluable experience working with Dyson’s Research and New Product Innovation teams to investigate and develop novel ideas. You will also provide supervision and mentoring to less experienced Engineers in the team.
Design and develop complex analogue and digital electronic circuits.
Lead the integration of electronic solutions at the system and product levels.
Perform and participate in design reviews, technical risk analyses, troubleshooting and investigations to proactively solve complex engineering problems.
Develop test methodology, and conduct and drive electronics design verification and product validation.
Produce and peer-review detailed engineering materials including design schematics, PCB layouts, tolerance analyses, design notes, FMEA, failure analysis reports and technical review documents.
Liaise and collaborate with various Dyson engineering teams (Mechanical, Compliance, Reliability, Software, Manufacturing, Test, etc) across the UK and South East Asia to develop new Dyson products through to production.
Contribute towards electronics development process improvement activities.
Supervise, coach and mentor Engineers in the team.
As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will have at least a bachelor-level degree in a discipline which contains a significant focus on Electronics Engineering. You will be capable of working with minimal oversight and assistance from senior engineering staff to generate world-class solutions within challenging project timelines. You must be able to demonstrate experience in designing high quality electronic circuits, ideally for consumer products in mass production.
Degree qualified in a relevant electronics discipline.
At least three years of experience developing integrated electronic solutions through multiple product development cycles.
Excellent knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.
Circuit simulation skills to support design calculations, tolerance analyses and documentation.
Working knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout software such as Mentor Graphics.
Practiced using standard electronics laboratory and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, AC/DC power sources, power meters, etc.
Experience in Design QA, DFM, DFX and DFMEA.
Knowledge of home appliance safety requirements and regulatory certification at PCBA and product levels, including EMC/ESD.
Highly motivated and self-driven with good communication skills, and cross-team working experience.
