About the role
The Senior Electronics Engineer role involves specification, design, and test of the electronic circuits for new and pioneering consumer appliance products within Dyson’s Floorcare category. As a member of the RDD Global Hardware – Floorcare Electronics Team based in Malaysia Development Centre, you will work in multi-disciplinary global project teams to develop and deliver the electronics for Floorcare Robotics products. You may also be working with Dyson’s Research in UK and New Product Innovation teams to investigate and develop novel electronics to support and realise new product ideas.
Design, develop and implement specific solution for home appliances products using a range of electronics technologies
Ensure design solutions meet product specifications and functional requirements (performance, reliability, DFM, cost and serviceability, compliance with international regulatory standards e.g. IEC, UL and EMC)
Prototypes and implements new product design including analog and digital hardware and embedded software
Produce detailed engineering materials including design schematics, PCB layout, Tolerance analysis, design notes, FMEA, Failure analysis report and technical review documents.
Work with motor, mechanical, approval and test engineers to ensure product and system requirements are fully met.
Assist manufacturing engineers to achieve design for manufacturer concept and optimal for high volume production environment
Identify technical risks throughout the product life cycle. Investigate these risks through to resolution with testing and analysis as required
Develop test methodology and conduct/drive electronics design verification & product validation test.
Liaise and collaborate with various Dyson engineering teams (Mechanical, Compliance, Reliability, Software, Manufacturing, Test, etc) across the UK and South East Asia to develop Dyson Floorcare products through to production.
Involve in supplier audit to qualify and manage electronic components.
Drive suppliers and contract manufacturer’s production process to meets Dyson requirements.
Responsible for the management of the team’s plans to deliver to project deadlines
Provide technical coaching and design guidance to engineers
Involve in electronics development process improvement activities
As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will have experience in electronics design and development for commercial products, preferably across the full engineering development lifecycle. You will be capable of working with minimal oversight and assistance from Senior engineering staff to generate high quality design solutions.
Degree qualified in a relevant electronics discipline.
At least minimum 3 years’ experience, preferably in Electronics Hardware Design and Integration.
Have understanding on Embedded microcontroller-based platforms, such as 8-bit/16-bit/ARM Cortex microcontrollers
Working knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout software such as Mentor Graphics.
Experience using simulation tools to support design calculations, tolerance analysis, and documentation.
Experience of electronics design for commercial products.
Experience in DFM, DFX and DFMEA.
Preferably experience of home appliance safety requirements and regulatory certification at PCBA and product levels
Experience in EMC/ESD troubleshooting is essential
Knowledge in Wiring design will be an advantage
Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently deliver high quality results within challenging project timelines.
Highly motivated and self-driven with good communication skills, and team working experience.
Possess a strong command of written and spoken English
