Accountabilities:

The Senior Electronics Firmware Engineer role involves designing test firmware and debugging tools for use with new electronic designs in Dyson’s Haircare product category. As a member of the UK Haircare Electronics group based in Malmesbury, England, you will work in multi-disciplinary global project teams to develop and deliver the electronics for new products. You may also support Dyson’s Research and New Product Innovation teams to investigate and develop novel electronics to realise new product ideas.

The role will require a highly motivated, creative, methodical, and flexible person, ready to take on challenges with a pragmatic approach. You will be tasked with design and verification of new electronic designs, and with guiding junior engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of firmware for commissioning new electronic designs and testing new features for future Dyson products.

  • Collaborating with colleagues in the UK and South East Asia HW Design teams on new product developments.

  • Development of debug interfaces and custom debugging tools for use by the Haircare electronics team.

  • Recording and documenting your work to a high standard as defined by the Dyson engineering framework.

Key Skills:

As a senior electronics firmware engineer you will have had experience of design for commercial products and have some experience of most if not all of the engineering development lifecycle. You will be capable of working to generate high quality design solutions with minimal oversight and assistance from Senior engineering staff.

Prerequisites:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant electronics discipline.

  • Experience of embedded C and Python.

  • Experience of working in a project team.

  • Experience of interfaces such as UART, I2C and SPI.

  • Experience of Version Control (preferably git).

Desirable:

  • Experience of ARM Cortex-M and similar low power microcontrollers.

  • Experience of RTOS development, such as FreeRTOS and Zephyr.

  • Experience of debugging electronics hardware that interfaces with microcontrollers.

  • Experience of wireless standards, such as BLE and Wifi.
