Senior Legal Counsel


Amsterdam - The Netherlands

About us

To operate as an in-house lawyer within an active and engaged team committed to enabling Dyson’s continued commercial success. You will be reporting to the General Counsel, EMEA and the role will be based in Dyson’s EMEA Headquarters in Amsterdam.

About the role

We require a lawyer to contribute towards the provision of the following legal services:
  • Providing support to the EMEA region across a wide range of legal issues (including employment, commercial, procurement and consumer law);
  • Collaborating with other members of Dyson Legal in the provision of legal services to the business;
  • Managing external counsel where appropriate, ensuring compliance with Dyson’s cost management processes;
  • Proactively identify emerging legal risk areas and working with stakeholders across Dyson Legal and the business to mitigate those risks;
  • Drafting and negotiating contracts with suppliers and customers;
  • Acting as a legal business partner to market leadership teams in the EMEA region;
  • Managing contract disputes with third parties;
  • Facilitating the delivery of legal training to the business;
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for growth, leveraging best practice and insight from within the legal and business environment.

About you

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in a commercial role. In-house and employment law exposure are a definite advantage. The ideal candidate will:
  • Be fluent in English (verbally and in writing);
  • Have experience of working on multi-jurisdictional matters 
  • Have experience of managing external legal counsel;
  • Have experience of advising on Employment Law issues;
  • Have a solid background in commercial law and an ability to apply that knowledge in a practical and pragmatic way;
  • Have good awareness of the role of the legal function in a global business 
  • Be able to work independently in a fast paced environment;
  • Have the ability to deal with issues outside the candidate’s experience and to learn quickly;
  • Have the confidence and gravitas to challenge decisions and actions when required; and
  • Be a skilled communicator and with a proven record pf being able to quickly build effective and trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
