About the role

Reporting into the Global capability owner, this role will unify the process strategy and energise the implementation plan across RDD Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Commercial functions globally by improving the ‘end-to-end’ business capability for product Bill of Materials (BoM) & Configuration Management. This position will work very closely with the IT and training departments in aligning the delivery of the end-to-end BoM roadmap for improving product quality. 

  • Provide subject matter experience and be responsible for implementing a series of large transformational and/or continuous improvement activities.  Captured in a road map that is backed up with a multi-year plan, in turn underpinned by a series of fully resourced and prioritised projects. 

  • Capture the vision for requirements management across all invested stakeholders and ensure compatibility of application throughout the product lifecycle. 

  • Execute and project manage the roadmap that turbocharges BoM and Configuration management and embed it into business as usual in how we develop products. 

  • This position will serve to promote best practices of BoM and Configuration management within Product Lifecyle Management (PLM) and Manufacturing Execution (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications, along with their respective functional data flows. 

  • Form an effective partnership with the digital teams to ensure the infrastructure, connection to the vendors and access to the relevant application’s development community.  

About you

  • High level knowledge and an understanding of product development best practice across other disciplines. 

  • Expertise in advanced engineering tools and techniques (related to efficiency, speed, quality of engineering). 

  • Experience in the practice of authoring consistent good quality BoMs and understand the logic of configuration (As designed / As built / As sold) management.

  • You will have a clear understanding of the V-model and the systems development lifecycle. 

  • Understanding of product architectures (Functional, logical & physical).

  • Technical, personal and leadership credibility to work effectively with cross functional RDD teams, other business functions and business leaders. Comfortable working autonomously to resolve complex challenges where no precedent exists. 

  • Excellent stakeholder management, with experience dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders from C-Suite to engineers on the ground. Understanding of the correct message for different stakeholders. 

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas simply and possess an Inherent desire to drive improvement through new ways of working. 

  • Experience in Product Lifecyle Management tools, ideally Teamcenter.
