We work with representatives from global teams across the company to relentlessly improve everything we do in line with the business architectural vision.

About the role

Reporting into Global Head of Architecture and working closely to bridge all the test teams across RDD, Operations, Quality, Commercial and Markets, this role will unify the business process strategy and energise the transformation implementation plan across Product Development by improving the business capability for V&V management.

This role will be partnering very closely with the IT team to enhance our digital backbone architecture and transformation roadmap.

This role will be an overarching global process owner, will align all functional process owners that execute test activity to enable alignment of advancements of our test, verification and validation process capability and provide and promote industry best practice.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide thought leadership and be accountable for converting the strategic business vision into a series of large transformational and/or continuous improvement activities.  Captured in a capability roadmap that is backed up with a multi-year plan that is underpinned by a series of fully resourced and prioritised projects.

  • Own the vision for end-to-end Verification & Validation (V&V) Management across all invested stakeholders and ensure compatibility with other core Product Development processes owned within the wider PD Architecture team. (Inputs from Requirements Management and outputs into Change Management)

  • Own and manage a roadmap to improve people, process and tools that turbocharges this process at Dyson. This must balance process efficiency and process governance and embed it as business as usual in how we develop products globally.

  • This position will serve to transform and embed best practices within across all functions, project roles and IT systems along with their respective data flows.

  • Lead a global community of practice that feeds the roadmap and drive the embedding of improvements into PD activities and awareness to the wider community.

About you

  • You will be recognised as a key contributor in your field with high level knowledge and an understanding of product development best practice across other disciplines.

  • Expertise in advanced engineering tools and techniques (related to efficiency, speed, quality of engineering).

  • Credibility at a senior management level, proven experience in managing resources, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

  • Have high quality and courageous conversations with teams that create high energy and alignment. Challenging leaders to get the best from their teams, making a strong enterprise-wide contribution as a member of the leadership team.

  • You will have a clear understanding of the V-model and the systems development lifecycle.

  • Familiarity of relevant Systems Engineering standards (e.g. ISO 15288).

  • Comfortable working autonomously to resolve complex challenges where no precedent exists. 

  • You will have a proven ability to mentor and guide individuals, proactively disseminating your knowledge and assisting in people development. 

  • Demonstrate commercial acumen and that you have a pragmatic approach to capability development that focus business cases on outcomes and benefit realisation.

  • You will have strong long-term thinking skills with examples, understand how to make good decisions and spot opportunities.

  • An appreciation of the impact of organisational transformation and what is required to deliver it.

  • Knowledge of multiple project management methodologies. (Agile, Waterfall & Hybrid) backed up by experience of applying them successfully in practice.

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas simply and possess an Inherent desire to drive improvement through new ways of working.

  • Experience in the development of complex mechanical, software or electronic products.

  • Understanding and experience in ISO 9001 and other Quality Management System (QMS) standards for Verification and Validation.

  • Understanding and experience in Manufacturing test & verifications processes.
