Senior Programme Manager

United Kingdom - Malmesbury Office

About Us

Dyson is growing. Fast. More products. New categories. More visual communications.  We are a creative technology company with a global and iconic identity. Our mission is simple: We solve problems others ignore with exciting new technologies which defy convention. Clearly explaining how our technology works and why our machines are better is essential to maintaining and building our reputation. Clearly explaining “Who we are” is just as important. Dyson is about progress – driven by technology and ideas first. Radical new technologies that make people’s lives better.  And investment in education and young people to make the future better. Dyson is more than a just a business, Dyson is a global technology enterprise. The team is responsible for presenting Dyson as an entity, to both external and internal audiences in a consistent, relevant and appropriate way. The way we communicate to our people and partners  is just as important as the way we communicate with our customers, and should reflect our values and philosophy. Perfectly. Often working directly for senior business stakeholders, and alongside global PR, our Internal Comms teams, and our core business functions to create communications which reflect our values, philosophy and engineering heritage, deployed across range of channels. We helped define Dyson’s sustainability narrative, our culture and most recently our farming proposition. In addition, we support Dyson family with their charitable and educational initiatives, including the James Dyson Foundation, the James Dyson Award and The Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology.

About The Role

  • We need a Senior Programme Manager (Image & Identity) to join the team to help manage and deliver effective comms that present  “Dyson”  in a clear, consistent and appropriate way.
  • Working closely with the team’s Creative Director you will help to lead the team, and will operationally lead projects from brief to delivery through detailed project scoping, budgeting, briefing, planning, resourcing, measuring and reporting.  The team is busy and in demand, so you will be a gatekeeper and go-to for a wide range of general enquiries and work coming into the team. You will be accountable for effectively prioritising and scheduling the work, balancing importance to the business and resource available within the team. You will be a strategic thinker, able to challenge and influence briefs to ensure that delivered outcome is meaningful. You must be visually literate – have an understanding of design and an eye for what works – and understand our brand and tone of voice, then act as a brand guardian to ensure that Dyson communications are always executed in an appropriate way.
  • We support our Exec team, Group Internal Comms, Group Human Resources, RDD, Group Legal, Security, Compliance, Estates, JDF and the Dyson institute. In addition, we also support Commercial initiatives across a variety of media and experience platforms; master templates for business documents, forms, stationery and presentation templates, as well as the usual ad-hoc Dyson requests!
  •  Fully interrogate and challenge briefs from internal stakeholders, ensuring all briefs are aligned with Dyson’s Blueprint, values and brand. Ensure all necessary information  is provided and the brief is clear before creative work begins.. Be the in/out hub for all incoming projects and outgoing project communication.
  •   Engage, influence and align key stakeholders if project strategy or key deliverables  do not seem appropriate or seem disconnected.
  • Create and manage detailed project plans for projects – scoping, budgeting, briefing, planning, resourcing, integrating work streams, review points, milestone approval gateways, pacing, measuring and reporting where necessary. Identify and activate an appropriate asset management and workflow system to support this.
  •  Review content for suitability, ensuring any assets generated are proof-read and sense checked. Ensure changes are clearly marked and briefed to the correct team, at the right time – and that they’re carried out.
  • Help our internal clients forward plan to forecast resource on a rolling quarterly basis.
  • Work with the team Creative Director to prioritise projects and resource plan accordingly.
  • Drive projects forward pro-actively, reviewing progress regularly to ensure they stay on track.
  • Keep stakeholders updated on the status of each critical project stage. Plan and communicate required corrective actions when necessary.
  • Establish and manage approval chains with the wider business, in-line with best practice.
  • Brief and liaise with printers and other external partners where necessary to obtain  quotes and integrate their timings into the overall project schedule.
  • Set and control production standards to ensure consistent and excellent execution.
  • Collect feedback, seek learnings, and measure overall project success to contribute  to our monthly and annual team report.
