About the role
We are looking for a Project Engineer to join Dyson’s RDD Environmental Care’s New Category team for a period of 6 months, and work on new product development projects. The Project Engineer will work closely with cross-discipline teams to support project delivery. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the team that design and develop market leading Dyson products for a global market.
Create detailed high-resolution project schedule, work with internal and external teams to track and drive project schedule.
Create Statement of Work (SOW) to define requirements/deliverables for external collaborations. Work with Project Manager (PM) / Programme Manager (PGM) to drive Contract Manufacturer (CM) and/or Original Development and Manufacturer (ODM) delivery to SOW.
Create and maintain Bill of Material (BOM) from Release for Development (RFD) to SOP and ensure product structure is according to latest design revision for all iterations.
Manage project challenges, work with internal and external teams to manage and track risks, issues and changes.
Manage engineering and design validation builds and allocations thru the product lifecycle, up to Start-of-Production (SOP). Work with internal and external CM and/or ODM partners to deliver builds to plan.
Create and manage SKUs, work with internal teams to define Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) specifications, requirements and allocations and external CM/ODM teams to deliver SKUs to meet SOP targets.
Manage SKU deliverables – BOM and Top-Level SKU drawings, rating plates, requests/allocation, change requests, FG DPAP, golden machine sign-off, deviation/waiver request review etc.
Work closely with cross-discipline team members – Design Manager, Program/Project Manager, Procurement Manager and Operation Project manager, to deliver the product.
Manage and track EVT, DVT and PVT build matrix / allocation.
Manage and track Purchase Orders (PO) for CM and/or ODM builds.
About You
Degree in Engineering (ME/EE/Product Design/Manufacturing) or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years working experience as an engineer in a new product development environment following a product lifecycle process. Proven experience in a similar role leading small-scale projects or project coordination and supporting role will be considered as well.
Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to translate and communicate complex project information to project teams, managers and directors as required.
Good attention to detail to keep track of project schedule/status up to part level resolution.
Good experience working with cross discipline teams such as Marketing, Planning, Approval, Commercial, Operations and Production to develop new products and SKU(s) to plan.
Familiar with engineering BOM, able to create, manage and develop new engineering BOM base on marketing requirement.
Understand design/engineering change management, and an appreciation of the impact of changes on other functions and on downstream activities/plan.
Adaptable and resilient in the face of challenging situations.
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills; ability to build productive working relationships and influence.
Able to use Teamcenter, Unigraphics NX, Excel, Word and Power point.
