About the role
Within Dyson Research we define what’s next. Our research team supports long term company growth through technology innovation at our state-of-the-art Wiltshire campus. This role is to lead our expanding research into fundamental air quality science and the development of gas sensing technology.
Propose, agree and deliver company strategy for the development of new chemical sensor technology.
Hire leading experts in the field of chemical sensing and air quality to expand Dyson’s capability in this area.
Manage a team of scientists, technicians, and engineers to deliver specific technology to product.
Mentor and develop junior team members to create Dyson’s next generation of thought leaders
Create an internal knowledge hub in air quality science.
Develop and maintain relationships with external academics to keep at the forefront of science in this field.
Collaborate with suppliers to bring supplier led innovation to Dyson products.
Work with senior stakeholders to develop long term Opex, Capex and resource plans
Management of senior stakeholders.
Able to translate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
Comfortable tailoring content to different audiences.
Inspirational people leader with proven ability to develop a powerful team vision and coalesce a team behind it.
Proven track record of developing the confidence, skills, and knowledge of team members in a multidisciplinary environment.
Collaborative worker capable of fostering an inclusive and innovative team environment.
Experience of recruiting scientific talent at graduate and postgraduate level.
Evidence of developing new technology from concept to market.
Familiarity with stage gate project management in an R&D environment desirable.
Project management qualification desirable.
Qualified in Chemistry or related field to postgraduate level or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of indoor air quality and air quality sensing.
Knowledge of purification technology.
Ability to understand and apply concepts from a wide range of scientific disciplines.
Experience of budget planning (both OPEX and CAPEX).
Experience of resource management.
