About the roleWe are looking for an experienced applied robot learning specialist. Someone who can deliver practical results applied to real world problems in domestic robotics and also help create a new team around them.
The candidate will be based at Dyson working within an ambitious broad applied research team, but also has an opportunity to be involved in working with our academic partners at the Dyson Robotics Lab at Imperial College.
They will be creating solutions drawing on expertise from a variety of disciplines including deep learning, learning by demonstration, reinforcement learning, curriculum learning and computer vision…
Responsibilities:· Design, implement and evaluate models, agents and software prototypes
· Maintain awareness of emerging techniques in the field of robot learning
· Implementation novel solutions to real world problems in robotics
· Guide and mentor existing fellow robotics researchers in the group who may need to apply robot learning methods
· "Liaise with external institutions involved in Dyson's research strategy, such as the Dyson Robot Lab at Imperial College"
• PhD (or equivalent industrial research experience) applied to practical problems using robot learning techniques
• Significant experience in applying robot learning to real world problems
• Strong expertise in reinforcement learning and/or deep learning and/or learning by demonstration applied to robot manipulation
• Solid software engineering skills for prototyping. C++, python
• Experience with Ubuntu / Linux
• Self-motivated and able to work with others in an interdisciplinary team
