Senior Scientist, Personal Care Research

The Personal Care Research team at Dyson is committed to leveraging new and unique technologies to deliver winning personal care product concepts.

We bring scientists, engineers and designers from unexpected backgrounds to develop best-in-class products that reinvent the consumer experience.

Within the team, this scientist will contribute to the quality, reliability and demonstrable efficacy of our products through design, development and implementation of current State-of-the-Art biological in vitro and ex vivo models.

About the role

  • Work closely within the team and with your peers in Dyson Research to design, develop and conduct practical investigations of new concepts using industry standard ex vivo and in vitro methods

  • Where required, develop new techniques for visualizing and measuring the impact of new concepts

  • Work with internal experts and external partners to explore and implement innovative approaches to improve and optimize current testing models and methods

  • Liaise with development teams to ensure effective transfer of technology into future product range

  • Identify potential research areas which would benefit from new technology development

  • Deliver specialist knowledge and updates to engineering, marketing and legal representatives and to the management team as part of project progress reviews

About you

  • Qualifications in a relevant scientific discipline (life sciences, biomedicine, bioengineering, molecular/cellular biology or any related field)

  • >3 years working experience in either academia, industry, or industry-facing upstream research roles

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in organotypic culture or tissue engineering

  • Experienced in planning and delivery of analytical and biological in vitro assays and their integration into biological models for efficacy and validation testing

  • Must be willing to work with minimal supervision in a hands-on, research role, as part of an interdisciplinary collaborative team

  • Passion for science and creative problem solving in a product development context

  • Comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity, willing to challenge assumptions or methods, pre-empt risks and find meaningful solutions
