Senior Sustainability Manager

About Us


This role holder will develop and report Dyson’s global sustainability journey. You will be an internal and external vocal advocate towards supporting Dyson on its journey towards environmental and social stewardship. Reporting into our Head of Sustainability Social Impact, as part of the global Dyson Sustainability team this role will be based in Malmesbury, Wiltshire.  


This role holder will lead the development of Dyson’s annual Sustainability Report, progress internal sustainability engagement initiatives and oversee community sustainability opportunities.  


About the role


  • Working in partnership with the Head of Sustainability and other internal teams such as Environmental Sustainability, Creative and Communications, lead the creation and launch of the Dyson’s annual Sustainability report.  


  • Support Dyson on emerging ESG reporting requirements, including facilitating Dyson’s first materiality assessment.  


  • Build on Dyson’s growing sustainability communications internally and externally, developing our narrative across product, operations and supply chain. Use data and the stories around Dyson to create compelling examples of how we’re using our expertise, products and technology in our drive to be a more sustainable business.  

  • Develop and lead inspiring initiatives that advance Dyson’s social impact ambitions. Such initiatives could include: working in partnership with the James Dyson Foundation, Dyson Institute, and product category and internal teams and others to identify materials, programmes and initiatives that amplify Dyson’s positive contributions to the communities around us such as Challenge Dyson/an internal sustainability challenge, or wider reach of Air Quality education.   


About You

  • Independently lead projects from incubation to launch with teams across the Group 

  • Track and report Sustainability progress 

  • Ability to use programme management skills in innovative ways and remain flexible as the role develops. Identify interdependencies between functions and facilitate cooperative working, taking an active, hands-on approach to drive the identification and resolution of problems. 

  • Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to build a network of connections both internally and externally. 

  • Ability to work sensitively, discretely, and effectively across Dyson. 

  • Educated to degree level (scientific/engineering/education/Sustainability) or can demonstrate equivalent experience.  

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.  



  • Demonstrable experience of Sustainability communications expertise and leading programmes and wider-community sustainability, engineering or conservation projects. 

  • Great people skills and the ability to motivate and inspire. 

  • Someone who is commercially astute and collaborative by nature. An excellent teammate, thriving in a rapidly changing and often ambiguous results-oriented environment.  

  • A strong strategic thinker and creative approach 

  • Strong communicator; ability to listen, and convey complex issues concisely and accurately.  

  • Project management capabilities (i.e. leadership, senior stakeholder management and communication, risk management, issue resolution, budget tracking, benefits analysis, estimating and planning etc).  

  • Excellent analytical skills; the ability to assess problems thoroughly and drive logical conclusions  

  • Confident; comfortable interacting with senior executives with well-reasoned analysis and education material.  

  • Assertive; readiness to challenge teams to take remedial action when required.  

  • Credible; ability to demonstrate understanding of engineering/operational processes in order to work with design teams throughout the project development cycle.  

  • Shrewd: The ability to multi-task and plan effectively when working with a variety of project teams in a fast-paced and often high-pressure, competitive environment.  

  • Act with integrity to ensure we continue to do business in an ethical/socially and environmentally responsible manner?
