Job Purpose:

Based in the Dyson Research Design & Development (RDD) department, the main responsibilities for this role will be to support the Global Technical Training team in ensuring smooth and effective functioning of training events and special projects. You will manage, design, develop, deliver the training and continual assessment of technical training to RDD staff. 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Organise, deliver and complete Induction training when required

  • Work with the Dyson Learning system to ensure training is available to book and attendance records are kept up to date

  • Organise internal and external training workshops on a monthly basis or when required

  • Assist in the creation, analysis and subsequent training based on feedback from Heads of Department

  • Work with stakeholder groups within RDD to gather requirements for the creation of new training where required

  • Able to work independently with minimal guidance to design and develop training programs based on RDD training needs analysis and business needs

  • Work as part of a global team to ensure global consistency in process and training content to ensure common global working practices within RDD

  • Continually develop training content in line with feedback from where category teams have improved working methods so that other categories can benefit from those improvements

  • Prepare continual improvement assessments to evaluate RDD performance & capability

  • Key player in fulfilling Global Technical training strategy based on RDD training needs analysis

  • Liaise with other departments to ensure technical training is aligned with the business

Skills Knowledge & Experience:

  • Detailed knowledge of tools and techniques used throughout  the product development process which may include some of the following: Tolerance Analysis, FMEA, DFA, DFM, CAE, Engineering Drawings and 3D CAD & PLM

  • Excellent presentation/facilitation skills and the ability to communicate internationally are essential

  • Good technical writing

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team (Interpersonal skills)

  • Good IT skills including MS office

  • Good experience in both manufacturing and business environments, proven working relationship with internal customers and external vendors

  • At least 4 years engineering or related subject experience

Preferable but not essential:

  • Knowledge of instructional design theory and implementation

  • Experience as an instructor or professional development trainer

  • Comfortable in questioning and challenging the status quo

  • Forward thinking and pro active when looking at training opportunities

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and especially oral at a technical level

  • Confident, clear and engaging when presenting to groups

Requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering / Industrial / Automotive / Product Design or equivalent
