About the Role 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading electronic equipment and systems. In addition, the candidate will also perform testing to validate and improve assembly or test, of future Dyson products. This position requires a solid understanding of electronics, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.  

 

Role and Responsibilities: 

  • Perform tests and collect data 

  • Assist engineers as they create, modify, and test products and processes. This includes rig/jig setup, wiring and troubleshooting. 

  • Support on PCBA prototype fabrication and integrate the prototype into the product. 

  • Support engineers in safety compliance related tests like open/short test, salt mists testing & others. 

  • Support the electronics team in verifying & troubleshooting numerous electronic circuits in Dyson products in particular, measurement of electrical parameters and test setup / monitoring.  

  • Support laboratory management, safety, 5S and equipment maintenance. 

  • Build and set up equipment 

  • Operate and maintain equipment (including 5S) used for testing. This includes performing preventive maintenance & calling for repairs 

  • Creates procedures for the laboratory 

  • Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books 

  • Enhances laboratory and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments 

  • Maintains laboratory supplies through inventory management, ordering & receiving of goods. 

  • Inspect products and processes for flaws and identify areas of improvement. 

  • Prepare and conduct experiments 

  • Calculate or record results during experiments. 

 

Accountabilities: 

  • Electronics assembly, test and fault-finding 

  • Electrical / electronic Test rig design and build 

  • Advise on safe electrical practices  

  • Manage lab equipment including allocation, maintenance and calibration 

  • Maintain stock of lab consumables 

 

Skills and experience desired: 

  • A minimum of Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is required, reinforced with practical engineering experience, and preferably has experience working in RND electronics environment 

  • The candidate must have good practical skills in electronics engineering.  

  • An ability to execute a test independently, from setup to result reporting is necessary.  

  • A good level of literacy and numeracy is needed together with analytical and problem-solving skills.  

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office is required with particular emphasis on the use of Excel for recording results that can be graphically demonstrated.  

  • Good at communicating at all levels and able to work in a self-motivated way as well as in a team.  

  • Familiarity in the operation of electronic test equipment. 

  • Good Soldering Skills.  

  • Basic electronics schematics reading and troubleshooting skills  

  • Attention to details.  

  • Able to work from either verbal or written brief.  

  • Ability to work on several tasks concurrently without losing focus.
