About us

We are the Product Experience team within New Product Innovations at Dyson. Our team is part of a much larger Global Design, where Product Experience, Industrial Design, CMF, Packaging, Retail and Model-making come together to create cohesive and engaging experiences for our users.

About the role

We create multi-platform interactions between our machines and users, by designing features to apply to their physical, psychological, and social needs - our goal is to make the best possible user experience with the machine.

We are a multidisciplinary team that comes together to create product features, diversify existing features, and communicate Dyson technology clearly to our users.

We are looking for creative and inquisitive, self-starters to help us define the future of our product experiences at Dyson. The type of interfaces and physical experience vary across Dyson product ranges (current and future) and thus we look for designers that have a wide experience and talent.  We support and encourage people to expand their core skills and work outside their current boundaries and experiences – so for those that love to tinker and explore we would love to hear from you.

What we look for and about the role:

We’re keen to hear from a range of applicants who can demonstrate some, or all, of the following skills and experience:

  • We are fans of traditional and nontraditional career paths, we are open to hear about your experiences in the UX and UI world, for example this may be: UX/UI design/consultancy, product design, interaction design, accessibility consultancy design/, rapid prototyping and more.

  • Deep passion and love for innovation and defining something outside the norms and seeing into the future.

  • Have experience in a creative, pitch and storytelling team. Your role would be to confidently present your work with clarity to stakeholders at all levels, underpinned by sound strategic rationale to support your creative proposition.

  • Will interrogate and interpret product features and behaviours to guide the direction of the creative. Responsibility for ensuring consistency of graphic language and creative execution across all product touchpoints.

  • Be a t-shaped multidisciplinary designer with the ability to work across UX and UI, with primary expertise in UI and visual design.

  • Will be comfortable working in fast-paced/ cross-functional environment with the ability to prioritise accordingly, adapt to ever-evolving project needs, communicate clearly and share responsibilities within the design process.

  • An expert proficiency with interface design tools such as Figma and Sketch and rapid prototyping software

  • It will be a fluid type role where you may work outside of your key skillset and support a wider design led discussion and workflow.

  • Proven experience across a multitude of UX/UI design methodologies and output formats (user flows, prototyping, specs and documentation).

  • You will need to show an experience with an end-to-end design process, so from creation through to delivery.

  • Understanding and working experience of a component-based/atomic design principles and design systems

Bonus points for:

  • A passion/experience in taking your designs to the next stage with code

  • Motion design experience

  • Knowledge and experience with accessibility fundamentals and best practices

  • Experience with 2D or 3D animation

  • Familiar with Agile ways of working and leveraging tools such as Jira and Confluence

  • An understanding of anti static handling procedures
