The Center of Excellence (CoE), Americas is multi-disciplinary regional extension of Group (HQ) Commercial team, built to support Market-driven needs within the realm of Group-led strategies. The team increases global capability, informs strategic decisions leveraging local insights, cascades Global best practices and executes bespoke and localized Market campaigns and experiences. The CoE includes Insights, Creative, Digital, Production, Retail Experience, Strategic Planning and Project Management. The Americas is comprised of 3 markets – US, Canada and Mexico – with South American expansion on the horizon.

The goal of the Center of Excellence is to provide in-region support to our markets, acting as connectors to our global teams in the UK, and drive excellence across all our marketing and retail communications assets.

About the role

The Sr. Manager, Retail Production & Rollout is responsible for all production activities (including project planning, bidding, development and rollout) for projects led by the CoE within the Americas region.

You will manage and deliver a wide range of 3rd party retail fixture & event(s) projects from brief to implementation and ranges from short term promotional presentations, on shelf displays, endcap/ gondola/ wall retail displays and full shop in shop builds. You oversee and manage several retail projects simultaneously at different development stages from concept to rollout for new locations, enhancements or new product development refreshes.

You will be responsible for understanding Global/Regional/Market strategies while delivering against market needs. You will strive to deliver the best-in-class experiences, at the best price in a fully compliant manner.

Responsibilities Include:

Resourcing, Strategy & Planning

  • Collaborates with counterparts within Group to understand NPD/ NPI, Campaign and other mission led work – and acts as the liaison for forward looking planning across the Americas region to plan yearly activities, understanding project overlaps, and considering specific market needs as it relates to Retail Production & Rollout.
  • Own, manage and drive a mix of internal and external projects through completion. Projects will focus on the America’s indirect retail estate, product launches, concessions, Mall Demo Zones, events (physical/virtual/consumer/trade facing/retailer/launch), field sales demo, Shop in Shop builds, consumables and more. Projects will vary depending on the prevailing market initiatives and product launches. As Sr. Manager, Retail Production you will oversee development of all projects and also directly lead large scale projects
  • Contributes and presents to senior leadership with discussions as subject matter expert for retail production, development and rollout.
  • Owns strategic planning around all Americas based production activity including vendor selectin, sourcing strategy related to retail production, development & rollout.
  • Owns strategic development of all process improvements related to retail production, development & rollout

Team & Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including:
    • In Market: Retail Marketing, Sales, Category, Concept Designers, Development Designers, Studio Designers, Procurement, Legal & Compliance.
    • Global & Group teams: Collaborating with counterparts at Group to understand future New product innovation & development, campaign and other mission led work across program management, Global Retail Experience - production and retail marketing teams and other Global CoE teams.
    • In COE: partner closely with the Design lead to ensure creative vision is flawlessly executed and with Sr. Programme Manager to ensure milestones are met.
  • Provide leadership support for direct reports in Associate Production Manager, Production Manager, or Production Specialist roles to individuals who will own and manage projects. Ensure team of direct reports is proactively managing to project needs, mitigating project risk, and coaching & developing team.

Manage and Deliver Projects

  • Facilitate best in class production management as it relates to key aspects: communication, risk identification and mitigation, production scheduling & development and expense management (budgeting, forecasting, scenario building).
  • Partner with Retail Program and Retail Project Management team to secure internal stakeholder approvals of concepts. Manage trafficking and sign off all 3D design and 2D art and or fixture engineering plans/ architecture/ floor plan or elevations before release into production.
  • Ensure detailed specifications are supplied to external suppliers for all projects.
  • Attend key prototype reviews and installations if required.

Develop and Govern Processes

  • Oversee end to end production development (across all projects), ensuring proper production processes are adhered to. Continually seeks to drive process improvements to refine, streamline and enhance existing processes.
  • Ensure vendor and agency output matches Dyson’s quality and services expectation.
  • Support the maintenance of inventory/database system for all indirect retail footprints.
  • Relish the opportunities to pick up new activities that fall broadly in the purpose of the role.

Procurement & Expense Management

  • Provide analysis and comparison of project costs. Think outside the box to contribute cost savings without sacrifice to Dyson’s quality and brand standards.
  • Maintain and uphold the integrity of all project financials — purchasing, billing and reconciliation to Dyson process and standards.

Brand Reputation 

  • Act as a gatekeeper of Dyson’s story, heritage, ethos and brand on all content platforms and ensure we are always producing best-in-class, locally relevant content within the strict Dyson reputation parameters. 
  • Owner of process improvements to enhance Dyson’s production & rollout. Including but not limited to:
    • Supplier management
      • Review of new suppliers, onboarding (including contract management), ongoing supplier development
    • Souring best practices
      • Refines and enhancement of bidding process, analysis, budget management and proactively forecasting project costs for planning purposes.
  • Co-collaborator of process improvements to enhance project management. Including but not limited to
    • Tracking and reporting on projects through dashboards and rollup.
    • Team Capacity dashboards for Design, Project Management and Production Resources.
    • System rollouts and enhancements (ways to more efficiently project manage and track project status).

About You

A dynamic, enthusiastic, and collaborative professional who has:

Knowledge skills and abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7-10 years retail production / vendor management experience
  • A proven track record of production management within known agencies, and working with vendors on 2D (visuals, graphics) and 3D (displays, fixtures and full shop in shop presentations) production.
  • Proven track record working with major production suppliers.
  • Fundamental understanding of fixture drawings and production processes.
  • Proven understanding of materials and their application to retail.
  • Strong communication skills; this person is able to present information (both written and oral) clearly and concisely. This person needs to be comfortable communicating clearly at all levels within an organization.
  • Ability to independently drive projects from concept through implementation, and prioritize in the face of many immediate demands.
  • Ability to understand the Dyson brand and uphold its integrity.
  • Strong attention to detail. Spots patterns and makes connections as it relates to systems and people.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Architecture / Construction Management, Marketing, Design, Advertising or related field
  • Experience working with big box, department and/or speciality and beauty retailers required.
  • Expert knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong sense of composition, design – strong conceptual skills
  • Production vendor knowledge and material sourcing
  • Understanding of retail footprints in grocery, mass and drug channels
  • Experience with direct reports/People management

Optional but preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English + Spanish)

Work Environment

  • Office
  • Domestic Travel (up to 15%), to Suppliers, Retail Market meetings or site visits.
  • International travel (<5%), to Group office or other Markets in the Americas
