About the role

As Student Recruitment and Conversion Officer, you’ll support The Dyson Institute in selecting gifted and talented students with a passion for engineering from across the UK for the degree apprenticeship programme. We’re looking for a determined, self-starting individual to deliver exceptional applicant experience throughout our recruitment and admissions processes.  
This is an exciting opportunity to own the end to end recruitment experience, through delivering the application and assessment process from start to finish and onboarding new joiners, while offering an exceptional applicant experience through professional, personal applicant management from the point of application through to their first day.  
You’ll be based at The Dyson Institute on the Dyson Technology campus in Malmesbury and will report into the Student Recruitment and Admissions Manager, working closely with the wider Recruitment and Admissions Team.

Responsibilities:
  • Implementation of the recruitment and admissions process from start to finish, ensuring we are transparent, fair, consistent, accessible, responsive and impressive at all stages.
  • Assess applications against established pre-screen criteria, conduct telephone interviews and organise and host assessment days. 
  • Manage the applicant pipeline: meet pre-determined service level agreements (SLAs) on response times at each stage of the admissions process. 
  • Offer an excellent candidate experience; be a key point of contact for applicants through the recruitment cycle – managing all escalated queries received to the inbox and over the phone, acting as a brand ambassador throughout your interactions, solving problems and providing information, guidance and support in a timely manner.
  • Become an expert in our Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Ensure that appropriate applicant and student data is collected, reported and shared, for both the reporting requirements of the Office for Students and our internal requirements. 
  • Keep up to date with the requirements of the Office for Students and best practice in the higher education sector regarding Admissions.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to analyse applicant and student data.
  • Develop and create reports to update the wider team on applicants and admissions. 
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of level 3 qualifications and equivalencies (e.g. A Levels, International Baccalaureate), for maintaining and updating academic entry requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of the skills and attributes required in applicants.
  • Lead briefing sessions for stakeholders involved in the recruitment and admissions process e.g. how to interview, unconscious bias awareness etc.
  • Keep up to date with assessment methods and industry best practice to inform the recruitment and admissions process.
  • Coordinate and deliver an extensive conversion campaign; work with relevant stakeholders on conversion activity, including applicant days, virtual events etc.
  • Build a relationship with offer holders, plan and implement their onboarding and arrival.
  • Implement an applicant feedback process to inform and develop the recruitment and admissions process, including an annual review to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the review and updating of the Admissions Policy.
  • Contribute to wider recruitment and admissions activities as required. This could involve some limited travel and out of hours attendance.


About you

  • Experience in early careers recruitment e.g. apprenticeship, internship or graduate recruitment, or an HE admissions environment.
  • Experience administering assessment processes in a business or education institution.
  • Knowledge of UK higher education systems – possibly experienced as a graduate yourself.
  • Passionate about offering an excellent applicant experience.
  • Experience in building and maintain relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrable organisation skills.
  • Proactive, with a ‘can do’ attitude and a willingness to find a solution. 
  • Comfortable with a changing environment and dynamic pace of work.
  • Flexible team player but able to work under own initiative and manage own workload.
  • Great communicator – excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

Desirable:
  • Knowledge and understanding of Level 3 qualifications UK secondary education.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems.

Note: due to the demands of this role, significant holiday in August won’t be possible.
