About the role

  • Studio Design Engineering team is responsible for building, managing and leading a high performing engineering functions within Design and Product Experience (D&PE), in additional supporting Colour, materials and finishing (CMF).

  • With a strong combination of technical expertise and management skills, you will drive performance and reviews with senior stakeholders , set priorities while taking accountability for the quality and timeliness of their work from concept to production.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior management in both UK and SEA, to make impactful recommendations and decisions to develop user-focussed solutions that meet the design intent with design for manufacturing and assembly in mind.

  • Evaluate and propose assembly requirements for the project to ensure clear definition of boundaries and interfaces for other teams.

  • Ensure adherence to best practices and work together with NPI/Research for key concepts to deliver back to design engineering for analysis on other engineering metrics.

  • Establish objectives for the team and monitor progress towards their completion.

  • Collaborate with cross- functional teams to identify dependencies, risks and mitigation strategies. Assess, plan and agree activities.

  • Manage tasks and projects in the team to meet schedules.

  • Design: Maintain accountability for the timely delivery and quality of the team’s work, including reviewing and signing off deliverables. Provide technical guidance and support to the team, fostering innovation and collaboration to help achieve the design intent of the products.

  • Analyse: Assess the results of design iterations, such as engineering metrics, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design For Manufacturing (DFM) and lessons learned, to evaluate design maturity and guide future design iterations. Monitor and report on project progress, providing updates to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Build Organizational capability: Lead or contribute to team, department or functional level change projects as needed, supporting efforts to enhance organizational efficiency or develop new capabilities. Ensure development plans of team members are relevant & stretching.

About you

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Design Engineering or equivalent.

  • Highly motivated and collaborative – taking ownership of projects and at the same time, being objective and responsive to feedback.

  • Self-motivated, able to take initiative with the ability to work independently when needed.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbally and visually.

  • Ability to assess project risks impacting product development and recommend mitigations.

  • Possess a good understanding of various production processes & engineering processes – how they influence design and fabrication.

  • Able to analyse, problem solving approach and provide recommendation.

  • Being a the role model and fostering a high-performance culture.

  • Ability to travel if required.
