In Business Application Services, we have end-to-end accountability for the design, delivery and support of all business applications that enable Dysons global commercial, operational and enterprise business process. Forming a large proportion of the IT Function, the Business Application Services team are aligned to investment areas including Owner Experience & Retail, Engineering Operations and Enterprise Applications.  Our role in the DevOps practice is to provide full life high performing IT systems that serve both the demand and the pace of our growing global business.

About the Role

The Application Development practice works closely with Business Analysts, Delivery Leads, Strategic Partners and 3rd Party Vendors to proactively create, manage and maintain software solutions for the global IT application portfolio.  In the role of Technical Product Owner for our E-Commerce Platforms your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with Business Analysts to define and sign-off of the scope and acceptance criteria for Epics and User Stories 
  • Proactively managing multiple technology orientated backlogs of work for Application Development, Dev Ops and Release / Service Management 
  • Working with Delivery Leads / Teams to ensure end to end delivery of technical enhancements and features, including attendance of daily SCRUM Ceremonies 
  • Supporting and collaboratively improving DevOps and Application delivery 
  • Working with other Product Owners, Technical Architects, Strategic Partners and 3rd Parties where required to define, implement and manage product development architectural designs and application roadmaps
  • Working with strategic partners and third parties to understand future trends, innovation and opportunities for the E-Commerce application landscape
  • Acting as the platform authority with IT and Business stakeholders to ensure compliance with technical principles, design governance and delivery practice ways of working
  • Identifying gaps in platform capabilities and working proactively to influence IT/Business budget owners and decision makers on appropriate actions to resolve
  • Providing guidance to the IT leadership, key stakeholders and other colleagues as required to maximize value of the platform architecture
  • Communicating and influencing Product Development platform decisions with key stakeholders to ensure architectural considerations and requirements are correct for the solution
  • Providing understanding and technical insight on the construct and capability of Dyson’s E-Commerce platforms
  • Working with technical and non-technical stakeholders to coordinate the implementation of Platform designs and technical changes
  • Proactively managing the reduction of technical debt on Dysons E-Commerce platforms – including the creation of technical user stories and aligning/prioritising them with RDD and Commercial Team Product Owners for delivery through development teams
  • Acting as an ambassador with IT and Business Stakeholders for joint stewardship for the robustness and maturity of Dysons platforms

  • Experience of technical design on E-Commerce platforms, including Performance and Security requirements
  • Experience of SW Development/Delivery on E-Commerce platforms 
  • Experience of implementing and shaping technical strategy
  • Ability to influence others and communicate with impact at senior levels across the organisation
  • Ability to lead the resolution of service-related risks through a range of internal and external resources
  • Ability to structure and implement organisational processes, procedures and knowledge retention
  • Ability to produce meaningful Senior level reports on status, trends and performance
  • Experience of project and software delivery methodologies/approaches/techniques – not limited to but including - Agile/SCRUM/SAFE/DSDM/DevSecOps
  • Proven experience of working with technical and non-technical stakeholders. 


  • Experience of AEM or SAP Commerce Cloud / Hybris
  • Experience of DevOps delivery 
  • Experience of AWS Cloud Solutions 
  • Experience of Advanced Excel, Visio, Sharepoint, Teams
  • Experience of key tools – including Confluence / Jira 
  • Experience of continuous delivery through agile design, development and test
