Based in global headquarters at St James Power Station, the Technology Development team is responsible in developing new technologies into Dyson product specifically product performances such as Acoustics, Fluid Dynamics, Structural, Thermal etc. We are part of the global team that collaborate and explore complex engineering problems and strategize creative technical solutions.
About the role
Dyson's Technology Development team is involved in research and development activities covering technology and insights that ensure Dyson is leading the technology in the market. You will be working on the Wearables category to support the development of new knowledge, technologies, and insights on product performance (either Acoustics, Fluids, Structural or Thermal). Some of your tasks may include testing, simulating, and evaluating prototypes against product performance requirements; conceptualizing, developing, and proposing design changes to optimize performance. Also, you may be creating analytic tools and/or models that could help to make analysis lean or solve specific problems developing test methods to verify product performance, using a systems engineering approach to develop our products or gathering already available data to analyze and find out the root cause of a problem, then using this to solve the problem.
Working alongside our engineers and technical experts across RDD functions, you will be given the opportunities to collaborate on technical knowledge and hands-on experience. For the duration of your internship, you will have regular performance conversations as well as opportunities for development to enable you to build your reputation within the wider team and we’ll be looking to offer our high performing interns the opportunity to return on our graduate program.
Our internship roles are competitive and delivering the next generation of Dyson technology is tough, so you will need to be:
Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Acoustics or Material Engineering.
Able to commit full-time for at least 3 months starting from June 2023, and graduating by Q3 2024.
Strong passion in pursuing engineering challenge.
Relevant knowledge of tools and methods used to characterize mechanical structures and performances.
Exposure in using CAD, CAE, and statistical tools.
Display drive, enthusiasm, self-motivation and teamwork skills and a level of initiative and pro activity to resolve difficulties and problems.
