Test Operator Leader

About the Role:

Dyson is forever innovating and looking to develop new and exciting products. As part of Dyson GPVT Team (Global Product Verification and Test), Test Engineering Operations play an integral part in determining how, when and where we validate these new technologies and products to ensure these designs are robust to real world conditions.

Test Operator Leader tests Dyson products, components and systems for function and reliability on a variety of test platforms. Determines if the designated product passes all test cycles. Collects diagnostic information needed to isolate any product failure. Responsible for planning and leading test operations for the effective, quality, accuracy of information flow and management, business processes and reporting. This is a managerial role that requires detailed orientation, good communication and quality driven.

GPVT Team (Global Product Verification and Test) covers the entire range of Dyson’s product portfolio.


  • Tests Dyson products, components and systems for function and reliability on a variety of test platforms

  • Conduct daily morning meetings. setup test rigs and equipment in accordance to the test SOP

  • Monitor availability of test samples/ machines & allocate for tests.

  • Provides test operation information by compiling, initiating, sorting analyzing test performance records data, answering questions responding to requests.

  • Propose improvements to operational processes

  • Update test operator attendance and man days daily

  • Recruiting quality test operators to provide high-quality support.

  • Sets up and arranges the shifting schedule of test operator and ensuring completeness of manpower   

  • Ensures an efficient performance of test operators according to established procedures, guidelines and standards.

  • Evaluating the performance of test operator, delivering positive and/or negative feedback, and addressing any shortcomings.

  • Create SOP method for test operators understanding.

  • Perform 5s activities, machine receiving and scrap

  • Performs routine preventive maintenance at specified intervals on testers, chambers, fixtures, etc.

  • Train new test operators.

  • To always ensure compliance within the lab to legal and Dyson’s policy on occupational health & safety requirements and continuously improve occupational health and safety performance. Practice good housekeeping of test labs.

  • To carry out other tasks such as wiring, documentation and troubleshooting problems when required as instructed

Basic Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Education Required:

  • Candidate must possess at least a vocational diploma or short course certificate in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) or equivalent

  • Preferably Supervisor / 5 Yrs & up experienced in managing operators specializing in the electronics or semiconductor industry.

  • Accountable in ensuring the efficient and effective operations of the assigned shift/s

  • Implements strategies and action items to goals and objectives of the operation by monitoring key performance indicators and line trends.

  • Puts into place efficient resource management focused on maximizing material savings, cost improvement and overall equipment effectiveness

  • Experience in implementing operational processes, knowledge of operational procedures and policies.

  • Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools

  • Advanced skills in MS Office

  • Organizational and leadership abilities

  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach

  • With excellent communication skills, fast learner, honest and flexible.

  • Experience in hardware/software validation and verification for medium and high-end working environment is an advantage

  • Goal and results-oriented, assertive and hardworking

  • Flexibility and willingness to work on different shifts

  • Able to work independently as well as in a group effectively.
