Job Title:          Traveling Sales and Service Technician

Department:      Technical Services

Reports To:        District Manager Mountain-Plains


The Sales and Service Team is looking for a dynamic, highly organized individual who can support our Dyson Service Centers (DSC’s) with day to day operations. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, general cleaning and organizing, catching up on queues, coverage for time off and vacations, reaching sales and production targets, ordering product, and complete daily reporting. This role will require at least 85% travel where100% is possible. The candidate should be based anywhere near a major airport within the related District. While most travel will be planned and booked two weeks in advance, there will be times where we need flexibility for travel with short lead times.


  • This is a full-time position that requires weekend and evening hours and includes competitive pay plus annual bonus opportunities
  • Support DSC’s through catching up on queues, time off coverage as well as performing day to day operations within the Dyson Service Center
  • Travel flexibility to allow travel to any DSC within 24-hour notice for support due to unforeseen circumstances
  • Work closely with District Manager to support staff within Service Centers on sales and production goals, reporting, cleaning and organization
  • Cycle counts and inventory management
  • Feel comfortable working different Dyson Service Centers solo on rare occasions
  • Maintain a 70%+ Net Promoter Score (NPS) on all repairs
  • Travel at least 85% of the time where 100% is possible, based on need
  • Offer additional repair or process training to any DSC employee as needed
  • Perform at least one DSC assessment while on site and report to District Manager/Field Service Manager

Technical Support

  • Responsible for the proper diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair of Dyson consumer products which include corded and cordless vacuums, environmental care, personal care, and any future New Product Development (NPD)
  • Provide additional repair training/refreshers to DSC staff across all Dyson products, and report any training opportunities/processes to the Service Trainer 
  • Report any quality or safety opportunities to the Quality Partner and District Manager
  • Ability to work with IT to maintain working PC’s, printers and other IT equipment

Other Duties

  • Provide daily/weekly updates to the District Manager on progress at any given DSC
  • Timely submission of travel itinerary information and company expense reporting
  • Be mindful of travel budget and travel policies
  • Ability to use Ariba correctly to order supplies through various vendors
  • Relish the opportunity to pick up new activities that fall broadly in the purpose of this role or as assigned by a District Manager or the Field Service Manager

About You:

  • 2 plus years in a repair technician, technician or similar role required
  • High level ability to troubleshoot product faults and provide proper resolution
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills required
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams required
  • Experience using Sharepoint required
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Dependable, timely and goal oriented
  • Self-starter who can work without heavy supervisor direction
  • Team player who can drive excellence and positively influence others
  • Proven problem solver


Experience and Education


Dyson Behaviors

  • Two plus years product knowledge preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Basic Electrical knowledge required
  • Basic Mechanical knowledge required
  • Experience in position with heavy travel requirements preferred
  • Ability to understand the Dyson brand and uphold its integrity
  • High level of computer literacy including intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivator with strong ability to work independently/remote required
