Our engineering approach starts with different thinking. Then we continuously refine our ideas – unwilling to compromise and driven by an obsession for finding a better way.
Hair Care (HC) has ambitious plans to scale, which are critical to maintaining Dyson’s growth trajectory. The product range continues to expand into new technologies, markets, and categories. To maximise our potential within these areas, it is essential that Dyson demonstrates credibility and superiority within these fields, at both a global and local level. The Category Development team has been established to drive strategic, analytical, credentialing, and commercial engineering activities across the HC category to enable these growth plans.
At our UK Technology Campus, we have opportunities for a 12-month year in industry (starting in the September 2022), for penultimate year students who are eager to play a key part in bringing the next generation of Dyson technology to the world.
About the role
Our scale and rapid growth make Dyson rich in new opportunities. Join us as an intern and from day one you’ll be expected to hit the ground running on one of Dyson’s many live projects, and the chance to have a meaningful impact on the evolution of Dyson technology.
As the HC Commercial Engineering intern, you will support the development and delivery of product demonstration and education projects within the HC Category Development team. This will involve working closely with the relevant representatives from Events, Commercial, Communications, CSI, Legal, and RDD teams. The goal is to maximise the commercial success of future product launches and education opportunities. This will be achieved by promoting product and technology solutions better than ever before in an authentic and pioneering manner that underpins Dyson’s core values.
You will work in partnership with Category NPD, NPI, Commercial and Events team to deliver engineering demos and technology stories to maximise the impact of HC product launches.
Scope and develop scalable education opportunities for the HC product range that reach beyond launch and retail touch points.
Challenge the norm, bringing new ways of working to improve the development and execution of demo and education events.
Keep abreast of the HC product pipeline to help feed into the development of a demo and education roadmap that builds on evolving technology narratives, identifying opportunities to translate science/engineering solutions into accessible demonstrations and education assets.
Collaborate closely with the Communication and Commercial teams to identify all market activities (launches, campaigns, education events) that require RDD representatives to support, and lead development of new systems to facilitate these opportunities.
Support the organisation and facilitation of RDD tours for media and key influencers.
For the duration of your internship, you will have regular performance conversations as well as opportunities for development to enable you to build your reputation within the team, and this could be just the start. We’ll be looking to offer our high performing interns to return on our graduate programme.
Our internships are competitive and delivering the next generation of Dyson technology is tough, so you’ll need to be:
Studying toward a degree in any engineering discipline, but motivation and attitude are important to us, and you will need to be able to demonstrate your interest in commercial engineering.
An undergraduate seeking a 12-month placement, graduating in 2024. Exceptions can be considered.
Able to evidence how you have applied your technical knowledge to solve problems, either through your university projects or as part of your extra-curricular activities.
Happy to build your own trusted networks & influence across RDD, Group, and Market functions.
