Warehouse Associate Manager / Lead (RDD)

Purpose of role

  • Role objective

We are looking for a Warehouse Associate Manager / Lead to work within a busy and productive Research and Development environment. This is an excellent opportunity for the correct candidate to build a high performing department to strive for high efficiency and maintain to an excellent standard.

Your role will primarily be about managing the daily activities, including the staffing, the smooth running of each department and the maintenance of the facility and equipment, implementation of safety, security, housekeeping. You will be instrumental in playing an effective role within the management team in the running of the site and you will have direct accountabilities for all operations within the department, ensuring budgetary targets and agreed KPI's are.

To carry out this role you will need to demonstrate the ability to manage a team of varying skills of workers and you will have the ability to lead teams to achieve the customer requirements. You will also be liaising directly with the customer so excellent customer facing skills are essential. Experience of working to budgets and KPI's are also essential. The role will involve using a computer, so recent experience of using Outlook and Excel will be required. If you have used an ERP/Asset Management system this is also advantageous.


  • Primary role duties

To support site start-up, overseeing the receiving, warehousing, distribution, product return and maintenance operations.

To lead and manage all direct reports to deliver customer daily orders in the most cost-effective manner.

To develop a Continuous Improvement culture in the business and implement new processes.

To drive KPI's in your team for health and safety, quality, customer service, labour, and materials.

Develop relationships and work in collaboration with other departments to ensure stock is available.

Ensure training within your team is completed to health and safety standards and company procedures.

Ensure that the raw material elements of the ERP system/Asset Management, are fully utilised and information is maintained in line with company procedures with up to date / accurate stock count.

Manage waste control – Chemical Hazardous Waste and Recycled materials used within the

R&D facility.

  • Secondary/additional role duties

Lead value stream mapping and LSS Project to develop, take lead to implement KAIZEN or lean improvement to achieve Future State.

Key personnel to supervise and provide expertise in warehouse and logistics operations.


  • Previous work experience

Minimum 5 years of working experiences in Warehouse Management, Supply Chain Management, or related operations.

Experience in a Warehouse Management position in a Production/Manufacturing or Logistics company is an added advantage.

Preferably the manager is specializing in Purchasing/Inventory/Material & Warehouse Management or equivalent.

Exposure to, understand and work to lead the KAIZEN activities or Lean Six Sigma methodology.

Strong project management skills, process improvement strategies and manufacturing process knowledge.

Able to analyse and prescribe solutions to tasks or constraints.

Able to independently perform troubleshooting of problems and report to line manager.

The ability to work safely around chemicals and equipment.

Good hand and eye coordination required to perform detailed work.

Able to cope with the physical demands of the job.

No allergies related to dust, solvents or paints.

Normal colour vision and good eye coordination to perform details work.

Must perform work safely, in compliance with HS&E requirements, and take actions to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Specific technical qualifications/exposure

Candidate must possess at least Bachelor’s degree or higher in logistic management, supply chain or any related any related discipline.

Required skills and knowledge on ERP, SAP, EWS or WMS would be an added advantage.

Has experience in setting up a new facility from the ground up.

Additional significant understanding of cross-functional skills and able to do multi-task in fast paced environment.

Proactive rather than reactive to resolve issues from arising.

Capable of delivering excellent Health & Safety standards.

Effective communication and leadership skills to build a strong rapport with your team and deliver a prominent level of performance.

  • Behaviours necessary for success

Ability to gather information & problem solve with a systematic, logical approach. The team leader will be tasked with the most complex problems that will likely span multiple disciplines/projects & typically without any precedent. Will be leading multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams to resolve business critical issues effectively. Management of key stakeholders at the senior management level is crucial.

Ability to accept & assess multiple opinions/viewpoints independently, recognising evidence & able to determine technical direction spanning a number of wider cross-functional areas in RDD and the wider business.

Able to perform work in a productive, proficient manner with a positive attitude.
