Objective of Job
The mission is to be a key contributor to strengthening Dyson’s leadership position, as a global technology company, in Philippines. This is especially in the lead-up to the opening of Dyson Global Technology Campus – Philippines, a PHP11 bn state-of-the-art campus that brings together Dyson’s research, development and advanced motor manufacturing capabilities under one roof. The Communications Manager, Philippines will work closely with the Reputation and Corporate Affairs team in Singapore, and in deep partnership with the Dyson Philippines site leadership to:
- Build and drive corporate-level campaigns,
- Champion internal communications and story-telling initiatives,
- Deepen Dyson’s relationship with key media (corporate and commercial), and
- Initiate and maintain engagements with national and local Government stakeholders.
We are looking for someone who is hands-on and excited to tell Dyson’s stories to the Philippines and the world and to work with the site leadership team to inspire pride amongst local employee. The ideal candidate will know how to find and tell positive stories proactively and how to bring them to life for different audiences. The ideal candidate will also be able to grasp the breadth and complexity of what our business does, the significance of Dyson’s investments in the Philippines, and local policies/ regulations. Importantly, the ideal candidate will communicate simply and effectively in an exciting way, covering the full gamut of what defines Dyson – our products, technologies, people, places, and our philosophy, to our internal and external audiences.
Task Description
Local Comms Support for PH Site Leadership:
- On-the-ground comms lead to support the Site General Manager, and local leadership team, on reputational/ internal comms, material development, Government engagement and change management.
- Coordinate the set-up of internal comms activities with group and site leadership, including Café Briefings (townhalls).
- Develop local communications materials to support Site General Manager.
- Host local working-level visits by local government stakeholders and agencies.
Reputation / Commercial Promotion and Protection:
- Shape the best possible strategy for reputation communications based on building, enhancing and protecting Dyson’s global reputation as leading global technology company and employer of choice in the Philippines.
- Drive and pitch Dyson engineer speaking opportunities, as well as support Dyson senior executives in their external engagements.
- Support in monitoring, analysing and responding to media coverage related to Dyson in a timely way, including incident and reputation management.
- Counsel and support SEA commercial team in local proactive engagement with journalists. Be the brand guardian and go-to-person for local agencies to ensure the third-party partners are accurately nurturing strong understanding of Dyson technology, its relevance to the local consumer/ market.
- Work with the Corporate Affairs and Reputation Director – East, and other group communications colleagues, to identify emerging issues and opportunities facing the organisation and design strategies to manage their impact including crisis management.
- Support the team on local corporate affairs outreach, including brief preparations, event set-up etc.
- Be the local point of contact for national and local Government stakeholders, while supporting Site General Manager on all local political and regulatory communications and outreach.
Internal Communications:
- Drive the internal communications plan in the lead up, during and after the official campus opening.
- Work closely with the PH HR team on employee engagement plans around the transition to the brand new campus
- Work closely with Group Internal Comms on messages to the greater SEA population.
- Support the Global internal comms messages for Dyson internal comms channels and forums.
Qualifications
- Proven record in Communications, preferably in corporate and technology communications, with minimum 10 years experience in PR agency, inhouse (technology or consumer preferred), with relevant exposure in local Government affairs.
- Excellent writing, editing, communications and project management skills.
- Ability to build and effect change – at both a people and process level.
- Established relations with key business and technology media to successfully position a subject matter to achieve impact. Experience in issues management is highly desired.
- Experience working directly with senior executives on how to communicate their vision and narratives in a way that positively impacts company reputation.
- Bachelor’s Degree or above, advanced academic record will be preferred.
