Aerospace-grade polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and carbon fibre composite, found inside high-intensity pistons. Ceramic cured at 1,600°C, making it three times harder than steel. Just a few of the materials procured to build the the Dyson digital motor V10. But when you design unconventional machines, you need unconventional components.
Procurement at Dyson plays a vital role in strategic decision-making. The Procurement team works directly with our Research, Design and Development (RDD) department on Dyson's most secret projects, as well as non-RDD areas across the business. Sourcing high quality materials, and finished components with demanding specifications, means tracking down niche suppliers. It requires tenacity, speed and efficiency to meet project milestones. In essence, we need to be as inventive as Dyson engineers.
For James Dyson’s birthday one year, Dyson engineers gave him a 1961 Austin Mini. Cut in half. Innards exposed and all. The design classic is now on site at our Malmesbury campus for all to admire the work of engineering hero Alec Issigonis.
