Working in our world-class Research, Design and Development department, our Floorcare engineering team takes our ideas to the next level. Through extensive testing and iterations, we relentlessly develop our machines until they meet the high standard Dyson requirement and to be the market leader. We are looking for Graduate Design Engineers to work alongside leading technical specialists and highly motivated creative people, to develop products which fulfil our ambition of being truly different, authentic and better than others.
About the role
As a Graduate Design Engineer within Floorcare Engineering team, you’ll be expected to hit the ground running on one or more of Dyson’s many live projects, applying your university knowledge from the get-go. Working as part of Dyson delivery team, you’ll have your own set of project deliverables and the chance to take ownership of how these are achieved.
Our Graduate Design Engineers do sketching, CAD, prototyping, testing, root cause analysis and refining design to deliver robust solutions to the high standards of product development Dyson is known for, working on ideas that will transform markets.
As a Graduate Design Engineer, you will (but not limited):
Developing mechanical parts, assemblies and systems from concept to production
Developing and verifying mechanical designs that meet requirements
Conceptualizing, developing and detailing ideas for future mechanical parts
Creating test methods and necessary rigs & fixtures for component and system characterization and verification.
Perform DOE and design optimization
Analyze test results and communicate insights & findings with both technical and non-technical colleagues, constantly looking to challenge and develop Dyson engineering practices to continuously improve design quality.
Working with engineers and scientists/technical experts across a broad range of disciplines, you’ll be comfortable learning from others, but also sharing your own knowledge, ideas and opinions.
Supporting engineering build including supplier visit (domestic & oversea)
About you
Our graduate roles are competitive and delivering the next generation of Dyson technology will be challenging but fun, so you will need to be:
Working towards or have achieved a relevant engineering discipline degree.
Graduating by August 2025.
Sound understanding of basic mechanical/product design principles and the development of products and technologies through prototyping and testing
Basic knowledge and understanding of various manufacturing techniques (e.g. injection moulding, compression moulding, etc).
Basic CAD modelling skill (any CAD software). Simulation skill will be a merit.
Decent report writing & data analysis skill (e.g. Microsoft excel, powerpoint, Minitab, Matlab, etc)
Able to evidence how you have applied your technical knowledge to solve problems, either through your internship, university projects or as part of your co-curricular activities
Graduating by August 2025
