We’re driven by progress and thrive on the challenge of relentless improvement.  We’re growing fast and our ambition is huge – more categories, more locations and more people.

Our scale and rapid growth make Dyson rich in new opportunities. We value new ideas and diverse perspectives, so our people are trusted with real work and responsibility from the outset.  You’ll develop fast and have the chance to move into different business areas and regions.  And you’ll be part of a global network of like-minded people – a community that supports and learns from each other.

At Dyson we’re obsessed with continuously making things better, pushing the boundaries of what others have defined as impossible. We do this by making products that solve real world problems using both novel technologies and established technologies, in new and innovative ways.

About the role

Integrating these technologies into a product and ensuring that we are delivering market leading performance to our customers is a challenging job, and one that takes specialist skills. That’s where the Technology Development team comes in.

The Technology Development team encompasses specialists who provides technical leadership in the fields of flow, thermal management, acoustic and vibration, structural dynamics and mechanics of materials broken up into teams defined as Product Performance, Acoustics, Technical Systems, Simulation and Principals.

As a graduate engineer, you will be expected to hit the ground running on one of Dyson’s many live projects, applying your university knowledge from the get-go. Working together with a larger project team in Technology Development Department, you will have your own set of project deliverables and the chance to take ownership of how these are achieved.

Perform static, dynamic, structural thermal-mechanical analysis. Work within a project team to deliver the best structural robustness on Dyson products mainly using Finite Element Analysis, both in development and production in the following areas:

  • Drive design forward and ensure correct decisions are made at all stages of the design process through credible simulation methods.
  • Able to pick up technical skills needed to resolve an issue through self-learning or approaching technical mentors.
  • Work collaboratively with Design Engineers through defining simulation/ experimental targets and adhering to the Dyson development process; Product Life Management (Specification, FMEA, FRACAS), Product Creation Framework and periodic status reporting.
  • Ensure proper handover of projects with agreed deliverables, from UK to SEA, communicating well with project stakeholders.

Proactively assess risks and solve problems impacting the product desired performance or customer satisfaction based on analytics data:

  • Able to identify characterize, and highlight risk in a clear and concise manner
  • Find the mitigations of issue(s) through systematic and thorough research/ measurement, present findings to the cross-functional team to drive towards timely and elegant solution.
  • Drive technical excellence within organization, e.g. promoting best practices of designs for mechanical robustness, either through day to day work within the project or knowledge sharing sessions.

Identify and develop new opportunities/ tools methods with the aim of enhancing the performance, reliability and time to market of Dyson products.
