About us

The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the contract manufacturing supply network to deliver products to our customers according to demand on time, in full, on cost and on quality. He/She takes lead in operational portfolio management, introduction of new products and making key operational decision in the agreed scope of responsibility.

About the role

The role directs and manages the day-to-day activities of an organisation’s operations. Implements operations procedures and initiatives. Being a Senior Operations Manager, he/she evaluates and enhances current operational systems. Monitors performance against operational goals and develops reporting and auditing processes used to analyse operational effectiveness. Drives delivery of implementation for agreed projects in CM following the right project management execution process.  Additionally, the Senior Operations Manager coordinates operations with other key functions within the organisation.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

This role reports to the Head of Operations – Philippines. He / She will be responsible for driving adherence to plan to ensure delivery of products to meet local and overseas export market requirements. This covers manufacturing of current and new product introduction. At the same time, He/She ensure compliance of the process to all manufacturing standards as required by law and Dyson. The Senior Operations Manager will drive programs that would drive efficiency and process optimization to help drive productivity. The role provide support to the Head of Operations in terms of cost budgeting to run an efficient business operation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the business operations and ensuring all operational procedures adhere to the Dyson policies and standards.

  • Support in the development of Operational KPIs and drive the deliverable with each Operations Managers with the team

  • Act as the key contact person for Contract Manufacturers on Operational deliverables and escalation management.

  • TEAM skill evaluation and development.

  • Lead by motivating the team and devising strategies to improve the workflow and operational targets within the deadline.

Strategic Operations Planning

  • Implement agreed long term operational strategy.

  • Identify process optimization opportunities to increase line productivity and reliability.

  • Implements improvement in materials management strategy.

  • Identify cost improvement projects and drive its implementation.

Operations Management

  • Oversee entire operations including production, assembly and FG logistics.

  • Ensure CM operations are aligned with agreed standards and policies

  • Reviews and drive operational performance improvement to meet or exceed expectations

  • Assess, Monitor, mitigate and manage portfolio - related risks working closely with cross functional teams (i.e. volume, obsolescence, supply chain disruptions etc).

  • Collaborate with Senior Management to align portfolio decisions (i.e. supply network etc)

  • Ensure that relevant change and product upgrades agreed for implementation are delivered on time across the portfolio.

  • Engage with CM, Planning and Procurement Team on driving effective materials management execution at CM Site

  • Coordination of cross-functional teams, internally and externally.

  •  Supply Chain Management

  • Review and collaborate with CM on optimizing stock levels to ensure right inventory to meet desired service levels.

  • Work with procurement, CM and suppliers in driving material management strategy

  • Collaborate with planning for effective run strategy to ensure optimal capacity use.

Process Improvement

  • Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, increase productivity and reduce waste and cost.

  • Implement Lean, Six Sigma or other process improvement methodology to optimize manufacturing operations

  • Identify and conducts problem solving/trouble shooting operational issues to prevent recurrence

  • Drive teams towards Implementation of key efficiency program that reduce cost and improve quality.

  • Drive teams towards Implementation of Process Engineering changes to drive increased adherences to specifications.

  • Drive, lead and coordinate with other teams and CM to ensure execution of project implementation plan.

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor key talents in support of talent development and succession planning.

  • Foster a collaborative and continuous learning environment

  • Ensure staff compliance to company rules, regulation and policies

  • Budget and Cost Management

  • Support the HoD in preparation of annual opex and capex budget expenditure and control.

  • Analyze and identify cost saving initiatives implementation and executions

  • Collaborates with cross functional teams in prevention and control of E&O.

New Product Deployment

  • Work with RDD and NPD to ensure proper technology and process transfer to CM sustaining operations

  • Drive Sustaining Operations to meet demand fulfilment.

  • Work with RDD and GSC cross-functional teams (i.e. ME, NPD, Quality etc) to ensure smooth execution of product strategies at CM site.

  • Review and improve the implementation in CM site for Sustainability and Waste reduction program.

  • Engineering Change Management | CR and CN | agreed LX project implementation.

  • Manufacturing continuous improvement programs.

  • Deep understanding of Operational Project Management at Dyson

  • Provide Leadership, coordination of assigned high complexity projects.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance to industry regulations, environmental laws, HSE standards and other policies

  • Prepare regular reports for senior leadership including performance metrics, data management initiatives, analysis and improvement initiatives.

The Senior Operations Manager works in close interaction with team members of Dyson and external manufacturers as it is paramount to the success of the role.

  • Support effective implementation of new first tier contract manufacturers and second tier sub-contractor.

  • Proactively act and drive to identify and mitigate risk of the implementation of new products and technologies transfer into manufacturing environment.

  • Driving CSR program

  • Coordinate with cross functional team and contract manufacturer to ensure compliance to HSE standards.

  • Driving Cost, Quality and Delivery improvement programs.

  • Develop process and solutions improving Operational project management efficiencies.

  • Coordinate standard operating procedures across Contract manufacturers and product category.

About you

  • At least a Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related fields.

  • At least 5 years of working experience in an electronics-manufacturing environment.

  • Must have experience in tooling technology, injection moulding, painting, PCBA and assembly operations.

  • Must have led innovation deployment and have good project management skills.

  • Minimum 12 years+ experience in a leadership role.

  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication skills with good command of written & spoken English

  • Team player with a strong level of commitment to project deliverables.

  • Be a trusted advisor.

Desirable:

  • Six Sigma Training

  • Lean Manufacturing Principles- Understanding the principles of lean and how to apply to a manufacturing organization

  • Cost control behaviours/business acumen

  • Knowledge of plastic injection mould tooling and/or line jigs/fixture/testing equipment validation & qualification.

  • Able to create a concise and clear presentation in PowerPoint.
