About us
To manage a group of Dyson’s size efficiently and effectively, you really need the attention to detail to investigate and understand what is happening on the ground – in a tax as complicated as VAT, when the temperature of a pasty changes the rate, it is the specifics that really matter. While predominantly responsible for preparing and meeting the European VAT compliance obligations of the group in EMEA, we in the VAT Team are privileged to see the actual day-to-day activities of the group in a way few other finance professionals do. We need to identify issues and affect change in other teams by supporting them to improve their controls and processes so we can correctly and accurately report to multiple governmental stakeholders.
About the role
VAT is one of the few financial specialisms that has immediate and practical real-world implications. This role in the Dyson VAT Team offers the opportunity to get to grips with a truly global supply chain, as well as insight into our many routes to market through which we get our consumer products into the hands of owners on a continental scale. Delivering all this requires us to comply with wide-ranging VAT and other reporting obligations across multiple countries, as governments increase the amount of information that businesses are required to provide to them. We must ensure that our systems are configured to provide the data we need in the format in which we need it, first time.
Your work can be broken down into the following main areas:
- You will join an established team that is already directly managing these obligations across the EMEA region.
- Whilst you will also carry out the day-to-day VAT compliance for a small number of entities each month, your main focus will be upon supporting delivery of correct SAP configuration for projects, leading testing and sign off.
- While consulting on the required VAT treatment, you will be expected to troubleshoot problems and work with other departments to deliver efficiencies in existing VAT and Intrastat configurations.
- You will also be expected to implement ERP system changes to meet new governmental and legal reporting obligations, often via third-party bolt-on software to SAP.
- Key responsibilities will include analysing, understanding, and implementing solutions to enable us to meet new or expanded Real-Time Reporting, e-invoicing and SAF-T reporting requirements, which will evolve in our existing territories and into new jurisdictions as we continue to expand.
About you
- A SAP specialist with deep SAP systems knowledge, including the operation of tax code determination
- An interest in VAT and developing a specialism in this area of finance
- Broad knowledge of different solutions available to meet Intrastat, SAF-T and other reporting requirements across Europe
- Experience supporting delivery of automated reporting solutions to the challenges posed by fast-changing global compliance rules
- An understanding of what is required in terms of interpreting technical governmental guidelines and schema for automated or SAF-T reporting, working with third-party advisors to analyse and map system data points to those governmental requirements
- Proactive, a problem-solver, high levels of accuracy and attention to detail, analytical, inquisitive
- Excellent communication skills, and an ability to build, maintain and influence working relationships with key stakeholders and other areas of the business
