In our app, our teams, and how we work
When I joined Dyson in 2017, I was a Test Engineer on the Dyson Link app, primarily supporting Dyson’s robot vacuum and every aspect of the app. Today, I’m Associate Principal overseeing the quality of the entire MyDyson™ app on a larger scale. I’m responsible for the app-related issues from end-to-end testing to resolving issues flagged internally or externally. I work cross-functionally with the app teams and other key stakeholders to triage, prioritise and fix issues, ensuring we deliver resolution and consistent improvements to our users promptly.
The scope is wider now, but the goal remains the same: building a better experience for our owners. One recent milestone I’m proud of: we’ve cut testing time by 50% and reached a point where new app releases are faster and smoother with almost no breaking issues.
One of the biggest turning points in my career here has been mentorship. I’ve had a mentor who has consistently challenged me, believed in my potential, and helped me build a clear plan for what comes next. I regard myself as a committed individual, and my mentor has capitalised on that and that guidance made a huge difference.
Working at Dyson is akin to a dream. I’ve worked across various IT companies from aerospace to media tech, and nothing compares to the way people work here. Everyone shares. Everyone supports. Whether it’s about a technical challenge or a personal one, you’re never alone. That culture of openness, feedback, and respect is rare, and it’s helped me build soft skills that are just as important as the technical ones: leadership, attention to detail, and real communication.
