More than a job
John
Graduate Design Engineer, Philippines
The impact of teamwork, training and support
Since my college days, Dyson has always been on my radar. I've always wanted to be part of a team that values engineering innovation, and problem-solving has been at the heart of my career aspirations. Joining Dyson as a Graduate Design Engineer in the Sustaining team was a significant milestone – it felt like receiving the best Christmas gift of the year.
Every day at Dyson presents a new challenge to tackle. Whether it entails managing the organizational aspects of our projects or awaiting approvals on critical parts, there’s always something to learn. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project launches adds an element of dynamism to my role. Dyson is a place for constant learning, where even mistakes become opportunities. Despite my lack of field experience, my colleagues have been incredibly generous in sharing their insights and expertise, making the learning curve smoother. I've also leaned on their guidance when navigating challenges, and made the most of recommended training sessions to stay ahead.
As a Dyson Graduate, comprehensive support extends beyond the professional realm, to encompass social integration and interpersonal dynamics within the workplace. Transitioning from academia to the industry has posed its challenges, but the Early Careers team has provided steadfast support to ease the adjustment process.
At Dyson, I’ve found more than just a job. Dyson not only fosters professional growth but also nurtures personal development, ensuring that each graduate is equipped with the tools and support to thrive in both their careers and interpersonal interactions within the workplace.
