Challenges are opportunities in disguise
I joined Dyson in April 2022, stepping into the world of Supply Planning with a background in Liberal Arts. My studies in literature and art history might not seem like the typical path into supply chain management, but the analytical and critical thinking skills I developed during college proved to be invaluable.
My journey began with Dyson’s (Review, Analyze, Communicate, Evaluate) programme, where I focused on enhancing the customer journey on our e-commerce platforms. It was an incredible introduction to Dyson’s dynamic environment. During this time, I was recognised for my presentation skills and even facilitated a regional meeting—a milestone that boosted my confidence.
After six months, I joined the Supply Planning team, managing environmental care products, Wearables, and spare parts. Ensuring the right products reached Japan on time was a challenging yet rewarding role. After a year and a half, I transitioned to the Sales Order Processing team, broadening my knowledge within the supply chain while contributing to a global project.
A typical day involves processing sales orders, collaborating with sales teams to track daily operations, and working with external partners like our local distribution centre. One of the highlights of my role is contributing to a global initiative focused on creating a dashboard that tracks sales orders end to end. This project has allowed me to apply my knowledge of SAP and order processing in a meaningful way, giving me a sense of accomplishment.
Dyson’s principles push me to grow, while reminding remind me about how incredible it is to be part of a company that thrives on innovation. And what truly sets Dyson apart is the people. My manager, in particular, has been a strong pillar of support, providing me with opportunities equal to those of senior team members. While some tasks are demanding, her guidance and encouragement keep me focused and inspired.
